Nail fungus infection is a common condition of nails. There are many things that contribute to its spread such as a humid environment, walking barefoot in public places like shower rooms and swimming pools, wearing tight shoes the whole day, not changing one’s socks regularly, having athlete’s foot, regular damage to one’s nails, playing a lot of sports that enable your feet to be in a sweat for a prolonged period like running, and even using artificial nails.
5Conventional Treatments vs Traditional Treatments
The more conventional treatments that are often prescribed for the treatment of nail fungus infection include oral medication and topical ointments and antifungal creams. Oral medications are known to be quick-acting, but they also have side effects which are something to think closely about especially because treating nail fungus infection takes a long time. These medications are even more dangerous for breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women. There are others that resort to laser treatment. Aside from the fact that it is inexpensive, there is no guarantee that this procedure will work. Laser surgery for the nails is often not covered by insurance. It’s a good thing that there are home remedies that can eliminate nail fungus thoroughly. One of these is the good old lemon juice. Before resorting to any of these home remedies, make sure that your feet are washed and dry, and your nails are trimmed.
