A nail fungal infection is a common condition of the nail that makes it brittle and discolored. It often affects the toenails. It is formally called onychomycosis. It is also so much like an athlete’s foot. Instead of infecting the skin on your feet’s bottom and the spaces in between toes, it infects the toenails.
11Causes
Nail fungus infection is caused by fungi which is a microorganism that can’t be seen by the naked eye. They can exist in the body naturally and won’t cause a problem unless they overgrow. The most common group of fungi that can cause a nail fungal infection is called dermatophytes. Yeasts and molds also cause this.
