Fungal nail infection is an invasion of your nails by a fungus. It is one of the most common nail disorders that occur among adults. This often affects the toenails, but it may also occur in fingernails. Another name for nail fungus infection is onychomycosis.
8Symptoms
Some of the more common symptoms of nail fungus infections include nail thickening, discoloration, shape distortion, and crumbling. The skin that surrounds the infected nail tends to become thick and scaly. Nail fungal infections may affect different parts of the body. In several cases, the tips and sides of the nails are the first to be infected. Nail fungal infections may be painful sometimes and in some cases make it difficult to walk.
