This plant has been used in ancient times since it was recommended by the Roman physician Galen. This has been used in various cultures as a folk medicine for arthritis, tuberculosis, bladder and kidney issues, and bleeding ulcers. It is used by the Chinese for cooling fevers and as a remedy for various eye inflammations such as corneal disorders and conjunctivitis. This plant is also used for treating flu, dysentery, swelling, and hemorrhoids. The horsetail is known for healing numerous skin conditions.
