Its medical name is onychomycosis, and its symptoms are similar to athlete’s foot. 6What causes nail fungal infections?
Nail fungus problems are brought about by fungus that spreads from under the nail towards the nailbed. Various kinds of fungi can cause nail infections including what are known as dermatophytes. Some yeast and molds also cause nail fungal infections. A fungus may infect your broken or any injured nail. It can also spread from the surrounding skin into the nail. It may further spread from one nail to another.
